Radio 24 Zürich
Show: Elena Zum Zmittag
The history of Radio 24 is as legendary as groundbreaking: In 1979 the station went on air as a pirate radio broadcasting from Cernobbio in Italy its music programme to Zurich’s metropolitan area. Repeatedly the authorities tried to force the shutdown of the station, but caused herewith a national grassroots movement speaking up for free radio in Switzerland. Today, Radio 24 is Switzerland’s biggest private radio station – still using the same logo as 35 years ago.
At this year’s International Radio Festival one of the anchors of the Zurich based station, Elena Bernasconi, will – live and direct for two hours – spread the positive vibes of Radio 24 on our frequencies. Her daily show “Elena Zum Zmittag” (“Elena for lunch”), Monday till Thursday, provides its listeners with the right mix of music and keeps them up to date about the going-ons in Zurich, Switzerland and the world. We are looking forward to welcome Radio 24 at our festival for the very first time and can introduce the station to a worldwide audience.
